From here begins our journey to discover the Côte d’Azur, the cities and towns that characterize it, the beaches and the most beautiful anchorages.
The best way to discover the Côte d’Azur is by taking a week on a sailing boat with a skipper, a weekend on a boat or a day trip, aboard a Nababbo Sail yacht!
Today we are talking about Menton, the city of lemons.
Menton is the first city we find when entering French territory from Italy once we have crossed the border after the Mortola and the Balzi Rossi.
This magnificent town is very famous for its festival of lemons, plants that adorn the whole city and have made it famous.
The city presents itself immediately showing its ancient part, of medieval origin, with all colored houses perched overhanging a steep hill at the top of which are the cathedral and the castle. A glance that from the sea is truly amazing! The town has two marinas, Port Garavan and the Vieux Port. In both ports there is a “ponton d’accueil” where our skippers usually embark guests on day trips by motor boat and sailing boat who wish to leave from Menton. The anchorage between the two landings is sheltered from the west and is spectacular, especially at night thanks to the lighting of the old city. Here our skippers will be able to advise you on the best clubs and restaurants, first of all the famous Mirazur, the 3 Michelin star of the Argentine chef Mauro Colagreco, best restaurant in the world 2021. Once you go ashore you can visit the splendid gardens for which the city is famous and all the lemon plantations that adorn the magnificent parks. Not to be missed for art lovers is the Jean Cocteau museum, which has more than 1500 exhibits on display.
Menton is one of the fixed destinations of our day trips by boat on the French Riviera departing from Monaco. Taking an excursion with one of our boats, both motor and sailing and with our skippers, you will surely stop in Menton and Cap Martin for a nice swim and to admire the beautiful old town.
During our weeks on a sailing boat with skipper, after the stop to admire Menton, our skippers resume sailing west towards Cap Martin, a fantastic anchorage for a nice swim in crystal clear waters. We will talk about this and much more in our next article. Good wind!
